Cary Home Remodeling

Cary is one of the largest cities in North Carolina with nearly 140,000 people as of the last U.S. Census. Located in both Wake and Chatham counties, it is close to both Raleigh and Durham. The city’s proximity to two of the largest cities in the state, as well as the amenities in Cary, has attracted more than 40,000 people in the last decade.

Cary was first established in 1750, when it was named ‘Bradford’s Ordinary. Like many other towns in the region, it gained popularity and recognition because of the railways that traverse the area. The North Carolina Railroad crossed through the town and made it a common stop along the route from Hillsborough to New Bern. The town was named “Cary” after a respected congressman known to the town’s original founder, Francis Page. The Ohio congressman and favorite of Page, Samuel Fenton Cary, inspired the name as Page began developing the land to accommodate travelers along the railway and those who chose to settle at the stop.

Among the development plans, Page built a general store, post office, and saw mill to get the town established and ready for further development. Among those, one of the first major developments in Cary was created: the Page-Walker Hotel. This hotel was constructed to house travelers and is one of the historical sites that remain in the area. Now a museum, the site is open to visitors interested in the rich history of Cary. Other historical architecture includes the Carpenter Supply store, originally constructed in 1895 and the Carpenter Farm Supply store, built in the late nineteenth century. While some updated remodeling projects have occurred at the site, much of the original architecture is still intact.
